WWF: LDN Fund Signals That Land is Key to the Future of Humanity (16 October 2015)

On Friday 16 October in Ankara, Turkey, Marco Lambertini, Director General of WWF International, addressed a COP12 side event on the conceptualization and further development of the Land Degradation Neutrality Fund. In a video message Mr. Lambertini emphasized that the Land Degradation Neutrality Fund signals clear recognition that land is a valuable asset in finite supply, whose integrity and productivity is key to the future of humanity. It represents a model of long-term, affordable finance for large-scale rehabilitation and supports a diverse set of sustainable land uses across the landscape. He welcomed the thinking the efforts and the spirit behind the LDN fund. “It is a very exciting development and one we stand ready to support.”
